7,680 LEDs in two helical columns

DESCRIPTION

Seville is a pair of 72” x 18” columns, each with 3,840 LEDs in a helical pattern. Each LED is individually controlled by an iPad app. Photos, videos, live camera feeds, and computer algorithms generate an animated montage that is mapped to the LEDs.

Seville is ideal for framing a doorway or corridor. As people pass by, they may just look, or they may get themselves in front of the iPad’s camera and find their faces mixed in with the display.

A single column can be installed as well, as the focal point in the middle of a room or perhaps in a corner.

The computer program that controls the piece is LED Lab an iPad app that allows any image or video file to be used in creating animations. (City/country-specific imagery can be integrated into the performance.) This app is available on the Apple iTunes Store.
