648 LEDs in a spinning 6"x11" cylinder

DESCRIPTION

Mani Padme is Christopher Schardt's only hand-held LED sculpture. It is a cylinder 6" in diameter and 11" long that spins on a shaft. Its LEDs are powered by an internal, rechargeable battery. Its motion is powered by hand.

It is inspired by the prayer wheels found everywhere in Nepal. Inscribed with the sacred prayer "Om Mani Padme Om", a prayer wheel says the prayer on behalf of the person who spins it. The prayer wishes peace for the world.

Mani Padme comes with a wood and stainless steel cradle that handsomely supports it on a coffee table. It can also be hung so that its rotation is vertical, as it is along the trail in Nepal.
