5 Star-Shaped LED Pieces for Hudson Yards

DESCRIPTION

Lyra is a Greek constellation made of 5 stars. It represents the Lyre of Orpheus, whose music was said to be so beautiful that even inanimate objects were charmed.

This Lyra was 5 star-shaped LED sculptures and 1 hexagon, created for the first holiday season (2019) at Hudson Yards in New York. These sculptures had triangular grids of LEDs, which displayed animated patterns in sync with classical music. At 4:59PM every day, the musical program would commence with a 1-minute audio collage of classical pieces created by Gloria Justen, followed by Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3.

There were 2 stars in the Great Hall entry to The Shops.  There were 2 stars and 1 hexagon on the plaza, next to Vessel.  There was one star under The Highline. In addition to Lyra, 3 Tungsten pieces were created for the lobbies of 10, 30, and 55 Hudson Yards.
